Some people require proof that there is a god. Not everyone is able to go on blind faith. Some people go off beliefs instilled in them since childhood and some people develop their beliefs later on. Also, if the person is a scientist, or thinks like a scientist, he/she prefers to have proof to back up his/her beliefs. I believe in some things that I cannot back up completely, and those things I classify more as hypotheses and less as something incontrovertible.
And I also think it's ironic that this is on the front page the day after there's a stamp kinda bashing religion
Science and chemistry have ways of making oxygen particles visible to us...not to dismiss religion or anything as I have my own type of faith but there are ways to see air just like there are ways to see the divine. Just a different way to "look" at it I suppose (no pun intended)!
I'm in love with the absence of religious bickering in the comments... sometimes a good debate is good to reinforce one's faith, but sometimes it's just good to see the best attitude in everyone, whether they're religious or not..
I completely agree. I am not part of a major religion, and I just adore science, but science too contains things that we can't physically observe, yet we know they exist. I have nothing against atheists, but their beliefs are based off of theory and opinion just like every other one, and if you mistreat and talk down about those who oppose it, you will only hurt your own cause and not make yourself seem any more superior or intelligent than you claim yourself to be.
A truly intelligent individual would know that life cannot be understood with no deep meaning behind what's physically there. I always say, science is to literalism as spirituality is to interpretation. It's like reading the written words in a book and reading the message behind the words.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I wish more people were as unbiased as you.
Me neither, I'm having some trouble finding one that 'fits' me or whatever you would say. But I'm only 14, so I guess I have enough time to figure it out! I feel the same about science. It can prove a lot, but not the most important things in life. I totally agree with everything you just said! It's so true!
And you're very welcome, I'm glad you like it! and thanks for the comment!
